“Supporting School Excellence”
The Laguna Road Support Our School Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that was established in May 2003 by parents, staff, & community members, when it became evident that the Laguna Road school budget would fall short, financially, of meeting the school’s basic staffing needs due to budgetary cuts at the state and local levels. Facing a deficit for the 2002-03 school year and a more serious deficit in 2003-04, the Laguna Road SOS Foundation took on the task of meeting that need. Through annual fundraisers such as the school carnival and seasonal boutiques, to direct donations from families, businesses, and other community groups, the SOS Foundation is involved in an ongoing effort to raise more than $40,000 per year to support the Laguna Road’s current technology and physical education programs. Since 2003, the Foundation has raised over $200,000 to support a variety of needs expressed by staff and parents. The staffing and programs funded by SOS not only enhance student learning but also are necessary for a well-rounded education that prepares students for the next level of schooling. The Laguna Road “Support Our School” Foundation is a non-profit association whose specific and primary purpose is to raise funds to enhance the education program at Laguna Road Elementary School.
